Brief Note on Iran.
The Big Mac Must Come With Hallucinogens.
If Trump thinks that he can attack Iran and get away with an easy strike, he is mistaken.
1. Iran can easily shut down the Straits of Hormuz with a drone swarm.
2. Most of Iran's 100 million people will mute their complex feelings to their government and evoke their own thousand year patriotism. This is a phenomenon that we saw in the eight year war that Iraq imposed on Iran from 1980 to 1988.
3. What does Trump want? A statement from Iran that it is not pursuing nuclear weapons? But isn't that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's fatwa against nuclear weapons announced in 2003 (but made possibly a decade earlier)? The weight of the Libya experience versus the North Korean one must hang heavily in the Iranian debates. Trump's pressure will likely force Iran to make the North Korean decision.
4. There is no US national security advantage from a strike on Iran. The US is acting as the advance guard of the Israelis. So much for America First.
The geography of Trump’s ambitions is grand but futile. Remember, Don, you can bomb any country, but you can’t rule it.
The age of colonial power is ending, and the age of the neo-colonial structures will end too.

The Iran dilemma is the most clearly delineated instance of the futility of moral justice…almost.
Iran is doing everything that a country can do to avoid and prevent war, yet the terrorist States of Israel and the US are imposing war upon them purely through lies and provocation. And, purely from greed and cruelty.
But I say ‘almost’, because so far they are not only poised to win the war, but seem to be winning the peace as well.
If this should end without war it will be the most hopeful sign I’ve seen in my life that wisdom and justice can prevail. I’m already preparing notes about how a Muslim theocracy is showing the fake Democracies of the world how peace can be achieved, and keeping my fingers crossed.
Well-stated. Iran is on my Mind again.
